Children's
Angel Memorial
The
Christmas Box Angel of Hope
In Memory of the Children
Due to the incredible passion
and work of Sara Ruble, along with a wonderful group of other
bereaved parents, a beautiful replica of the angel monument
inspired by the book, The Christmas Box, was built in
the Silver Springs Cemetery in Stow, Ohio, in 2001. The
Christmas Box became a best-selling book and television
movie, both of which lovingly told of a mother's grief and
eventual solace over the loss of her child. The Christmas Box
Angel of Hope was created by author, Richard Paul Evans, and
was first built in Salt Lake City. It has become a truly
meaningful memorial to children throughout the world.
The Angel of Hope in Stow has become a peaceful place for
grieving parents whose children have died, before or after
birth, to mourn, heal, and remember their beloved children. It
has also given parents an opportunity to connect with one
another and share their grief.
Memorial bricks have been placed around the angel statue. They
are loving tributes from parents, grandparents, and other
loved ones to the memory of a child and have become a
permanent part of the Children's Memorial. Memorial bricks can
be purchased for $100. There are two brick laying dedication
ceremonies held each year at the Children's Memorial in
the Spring and Fall. If you are interested in purchasing a
brick, please click
here to download a
Memorial Brick Order Form or contact Sara Ruble at (330)
689-1089 or go to www.christmasboxangelofhopestowohio.com.
There is also an annual Candle Lighting ceremony held at the
Children's Memorial on the second Sunday in December at
5:00pm. This ceremony is a special time to remember and honor
the children as the holidays approach. If you have purchased a
brick, you will receive an invitation to this beautiful event.
However, family and friends, as well as the general public,
are welcome to attend. (We encourage you to dress
warmly.)
